Meeting Hack: Idea Exchange
This meeting format brings together similar teams to share challenges, insights, and best practices, promoting collaborative learning and problem-solving.
Summary
Based on Daniel Coyle's "The Culture Code Playbook," this approach involves organizing small-group sessions (under 10 people) with teams that share similar skill sets but aren't direct competitors. The format encourages open discussion of challenges and shortcomings, using a 2+2 framework: two pre-selected topics for an hour each, followed by two hours of open conversation. This structure facilitates targeted knowledge exchange, relationship-building, and the discovery of innovative solutions to shared challenges.

Actions to Take
Bring like-minded or similar teams together to share and learn from each other. Here’s how to do it: Choose a team that shares a key aspect of your skill set (but is non-competitive). Keep it small (under 10 people).Be open about your groups challenges and shortcomings. This is not a time to display your strengths, but rather a time to be honest about your shortcomings. What are you struggling with? What tools are you seeking to improve? Use the 2+2 framework. Ask each group to pre-select two topics for an hour each and then leave 2 hours for emergent conversation and relationship-building. The topics work best if they bridge a gap between one groups strength and the other group’s challenge. Your group is incredible at onboarding, can you walk us through your process?
